The 1st ever Northwest Battle is going to be hosted in Seattle! Head up for a night of entrepreneurial fun, watch Startup Weekends champions from around the NW face off against each other in a demo-day style event, and support the teams that you love. This is a one-night event, and will be a great opportunity to expand your entrepreneurial network.

You've been hearing about Startup Weekend and have thought about participating. Maybe you even took the leap and participated. Why? Because you want to have an impact in the world and you know the best way to do that is to build a startup whether a for-profit or a sustainable non-profit.

Startup Weekend is a level playing field where you can learn about entrepreneurship and technology, network with some of the most talented and interesting people in our region, and have fun bringing a grand vision to life.

Startup Weekend changes lives. There are countless stories from the literally hundreds of thousands of people like you from hundreds of countries around the world who have been impacted by their experience with Startup Weekend.

This Startup Weekend is a special one. During the weekends of November 15th and November 22nd, UP Global, the parent company of Startup Weekend, held its annual Global Startup Battle. There were over 300 Startup Weekend events held around the world during these two weeks, and several of those were right here in the northwest. This event will be part of that battle and is special regional event pitting the winners from about 8 Northwest cities against one another in a final showdown in front of an audience of over 300 people. This is a unique opportunity to explode onto the startup scene.

Greg Gottesman

Greg serves on the board of Startup Weekend and W Fund Investment and is the president of the Evergreen Venture Capital Association. He is an advisory board member of the University of Washington Technology Transfer Office.

He is the author of three books. Greg is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington Business School, where he teaches a class on entrepreneurship.

Greg graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors and distinction from Stanford University, with honors and distinction from the Harvard Business School, and with honors from Harvard Law School where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Marc Nager

Marc Nager (pronounced Naw-ger) is the President and Co-Founder of UP Global. Both a Swiss and US citizen, Marc has enjoyed an amazing 27 years enjoying the outdoors, pursuing seemingly risky endeavors, and traveling down multiple career paths. With a degree in International Business from Chapman University in Southern California, Marc left his MBA program after the first semester to pursue new direction. Scratching his own itch to learn how to launch a startup, Marc found the opportunity to acquire Startup Weekend, LLC and to transform it into a non-profit with the help of co-founders Clint Nelsen and Franck Nouyrigat.

Passionate and curious about the world of startups, Marc has found a way to help others pursue their ideas and dreams. Startup Weekend has landed him in over 40 cities around the world where he's listened, observed, and helped over 450 of the earliest stage startups. Among others, his pursuits have garnered exposure in national media outlets such as Entrepreneur Magazine and Forbes.

Marc considers himself a do-er, an orchestrator of passions and talents, and an instigator. He has strong faith in always investing your time, energy and resources into "doing the right thing." As an ambitious go-getter, he is dedicated to expanding his experience and understanding of startup ecosystems around the world. His efforts focus on increasing the levels and quality of support available for passionate entrepreneurs and communities. Entrepreneurship is something that can be both taught and learned, and Marc's on a mission to ensure the world takes advantage of that.

Mike Fridgen

Mike is an entrepreneur and executive with more than 15 years of experience building consumer Internet companies and products. Mike is currently General Manager of Seller Insights at eBay. eBay acquired Decide.com in 2013, where Mike was President and CEO. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Marketing & Product Development at Farecast.com, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2008.

At Microsoft, Mike led product management for Bing Travel and Bing Shopping. In the late 90s, Mike was co-founder and CEO of a venture backed online travel start-up. Mike has a MBA from Harvard Business School and BA from University of Washington.
